This deck was built for episode 114 of Drawn to the Flame, in which we announced the two upgraded versions of Grisly Totem, coming out in For the Greater Good. For this deck, I looked at the power of failure in Silas Marsh. I talk about the deck in detail on the episode, here: https://drawntotheflamepodcast.blogspot.com/2019/04/episode-114-visions-of-futures-past-viii.html Essentially, Grisly Totem in its 3xp form allows Silas unparalleled control of what cards 'stick' to a skill test, giving his cards increased longevity and utility. I hope you like the deck, and the version of Grisly Totem!

I've had a mo to write some further thoughts about this deck, so I thought I'd sneak 'em in.

The good, the bad and the ugly:

This deck is a combination of some Good Stuff, pretty standard Silas fare and some newer things to work in concert with the tried and tested. For the former, see Fire Axe, Madame Labranche, Lucky! and "Look what I found!". These are strong more or less any is happy to see. For solo, I like Flashlight too. 2 is no laughing matter!

Where you can really experiment with Silas is in his skill selection. Here he's really spoiled for choice. I'm a fan of single Survival Instinct and Stunning Blow - it gives Silas a toolbox style range of options for dealing with enemies. As you add xp to Silas, you can lean into agility more, with Peter Sylvestre providing , and sanity soak (for 2xp! what a bargain!) and Close Call or Survival Instinct as further evasion options. Or you can go for bigger damage with Old Hunting Rifle (you've already got Live and Learn to help there) or even Timeworn Brand if you want to keep play flashlights. All of this means you want Silas' skill options to reflect a range of possibilities. There's the new (Curiosity shoring up both weak stats) and the old (Unexpected Courage - worth noting it's innate so can be fetched with True Survivor). Personally, I love Quick Thinking and Eureka! in Silas, the former with Fire Axe for crazy actions, the latter as a great play. But really the joy of Silas is in toying with different skills and seeing what works for you, and the Grisly Totem III will definitely empower that playstyle.
