When playing Silas "Hold My Beer" Marsh, you need to understand that he is not an investigator, or a fighter, or any preconceived archetype you might have for the game. He's just a regular guy, out to have a good time. When he sees an opportunity to do something amazing, he will tell someone to hold his beer and he will proceed to do something amazing. He will then return, and drink his beer.

Pros:

  • Cheap: Silas only needs money for beer. Occasionally his pal Peter is going to need beer money, but thats fine. Silas might want to buy a nice surfer necklace and his barbeque knife, but otherwise Silas cares not

  • Mad: Silas cares not for regular standards of sanity. Starting only at 5 sanity is fine. Use meat cleaver a couple of times and get down to 3 as quickly as possible. Once Silas is there, his barbeque knife becomes better, and he can play the desperate cards.

  • Great Stats: Willpower is for cowards and Intelligence is for nerds. If you need either of those, just play a skill card.

Cons:

  • RNJesus: You are at the mercy of the encounter deck when it comes to the mysthos phase. Grisly Totem should help if you've got it out, as even a single willpower pip counts as 2.

  • Mad: You are genuinely a bit crazy. You've got perseverance in there as a last resort, but don't rely on it. Don't go crazy with the meat cleaver until you've got Peter out. Do your best to stay at 3 sanity

Upgrade Paths:

Assemble the Chad Brigade: Get charisma twice, to be able to assumble the most badass trio ever assembled: Granny Orne (Helps with your stupudly low willpower as well helping with your skill cards) Peter Sylvestre (Combo him with meat cleaver for good damage) Yaotl (Stick any desperate card on your discard pile and you become a gpd at that. Worst case scenario keep discarding your deck until you find something good. You don't care about taking 1 horror for reshuffling)
