Nightshift at the Diner.
The wall clock clunked as its hands slowly moved ever onward, indicating that yet another long minute had ticked by of yet another nightshift. It had been normal Friday night for the diner. Most the earlier university crowd had long been and gone, heading on out to various parties, study groups and the like. Zoey was alone in the kitchen and had just finished the washing up and preparing to put out a bowl of scrap food for the dog that always seemed to be hanging around the back ally whenever she was on shift.
Out in the diner itself Agnes had once again fallen asleep at the counter. This was starting to become a bit of a habit lately and not only during long slow nightshifts. In one of the large booths by the window that looked out on to the street, sat a couple of art students with varies text books and notes spread out over the table still, discussing the lecture they had attended on today earlier. While over in a quite corner booth Peter Sylvestre and a cheer leader were shearing a milkshake and seemed completely unaware of the late hour.
The hands on the clock clunked once more signaling the top of the hour, the door swung open and the local beat cop entered the diner as he did every night around this time for his regular coffee and doughnut.

Jul 07, 2020Agreed, story made for a really great ambient set up! Makes me want to play these two characters through Dunwich. I also agree in that the reactionary combo play you have is good, especially with Zoey. It also helps that the card cost for everything is reasonably low. I too think the clue hunting cards would be better situated to either exclusively make the skill check or snag the clues without one since they work in tandem with one another, and I'm not in favor of boosting Zoey's poor Intellect (I've tried, it's brutal). If you want a backup though, Rite of Seeking works good with her though that might conflict with the theme since Agnes is in the party. Also, consider Backpack! You have 11 targets you can dig for which is more than enough. If you get Bandolier, than equip that after you've played all the other item and supply cards from the backpack. And if you're switching out some of the flashlights/magnifying glass/blackjack, then I'd replace those with other weapons (knives and machete for theme maybe? A well concealed .45 under the cash register could be a hilarious bit of fun too though) that way you maintain around 10 item and/or supply cards. |
Jul 07, 2020Hi guy's, thanks for the comments and advise. I've made some of the changes you have suggested between you such as dropping Zoey's two blackjacks for knifes and with the investigation side for clue gathering, so it is mainly done without having to do skill tests, hopefully! |
First off i love the story you wrote for her deck, but for the deck i have some hopefully helpful thoughts.
The blackjacks works against Zoey's ability and her cross, she wants to engage since it gives her resources or ping damage from her cross. So maybe enchanted blade since if she has her cross ping and beat cop ping, so she often dont have to use a charge on small enemies.
Also your clue segment is trying to both be able to investigate and get clues without investigating, choose one i would say fx: drop the mag glass and hyper and add hunch and/or Evidence maybe even deduction so your seeker can find even more clues with your help. However i dont think adding an investigate segment to a zoey deck does much for her. I love the surv knifes, bandos, dogs combo it works very well in alot of guardian decks and i really like it with zoey. Hope this helped and sry if the language is a little direct, its just the way i talk/write.
