With Familiar spirit and Sign Magic you should have more than 2 arcane slots. Use them to hold Heal spells or evade spells in addition to the above.

Uses Voice of Ra and David Renfield for money. A good replacement for him is Summoned hound for extra action. Most important upgrade is Sixth sense for increased chance of success and 2 clues per picture token. 2nd most important is to upgrade Clarity of Mind to heal 2 Sanity per action. Upgrade Investigate spells and Damage Spells; grab Charisma. Upgraded lv3 Clarity heals 8 sanity! and you have 2 of them!

The use of 2 Arcane Research means you will get there quickly by upgrading spells partially for free!
