First try at a Charlie Kane deck - proxied I've taken it through TFA, TCU and Path to Carcosa in four-player, and it works quite well as a flex that leans toward clues.

In general, the upgraded backpacks allow you to get caches, thin your deck, and get to lab assistants and ever vigilants to get allies into play. Before you have allies, you can use take heart to accelerate as well. Once you have 1-2 allies, you can call in favors to get to 3-4, especially if you hit Miss Doyle who effectively grants 2. With luck, set up in 2-3 turns.

With 3 allies in play and a static boost to will/intellect, you can generally do one good investigate, and one pass anything test. With Bonnie, you get to the point where you can do a test (any) 8 and then test (intellect) 6 consistently. Clue acceleration is from upgraded newspapers, chance encounter-fetched summoned hound (who can be readied by Bonnie to use twice) or using Grete/Lola.

Charlie is really a Swiss army knife. Someone needs rescuing from a snake? Engage and evade at 9 before moving. Someone stuck with a will treachery haunting them? Test it off and grab a clue. Really fun!

It seems like you are using 3 classes instead of 2. I thought you could only pick 2 classes at deck creation?

@calebstahl Remember that Charlie can can all ally regardless of class choices. It is only non-ally cards that need to be neutral or one of two classes. In the cas of this deck, it is guardian/survivor.

Ohhhh I see... that makes sense. My bad. Also if he is this good already it will be very interesting to see what he will do with more new cards.

Good deck! I like some ideas in here :)

Quick question: how did you experience the fact that if you only find Summoned Hound with Calling in Favors? You then have to play it, bringing the Unbound Beast with it.

I don’t take summoned hound until I have a chance encounter. It’s easy to pitch to a test and then it can be put into play, so only the good boy, no bad puppy. Makes it more of an accelerator than a core card, but XP cheap so still a nice upgrade.

Thanks! What I meant is that if the Summoned Hound is in your Deck and it is the only result you find while playing Calling in Favors, then you have to play it, and the bad boys with it...

True enough - early game you usually have enough density to dodge it, but makes calling less useful as a late refresh.

I would like to recommand 2 copies of Gregory Gry, since your deck has Miss Doyle. With auto-success of her cats, you always get 3 resources from Gregory Gry. Because Charlie is likely to suffer leak of resources, Gregory Gry looks good for him.
