Hi Guys,

I'm testing this investigator in a 2-player Innsmouth campaign. My partner is a fighter-mystic. Clearly the role of Jack is to vacuum clues and evade any enemies.

A quick run-through:

  • Archive of Conduits is a great way to improve massively his mobility on the map. It's not rare to have to go back to a location to grab the last clues or activate a key-hole. This item does it, provided you've upgraded it off course. A priority with your first 4 XP.

  • Magnifying glass: Just a temporary handslot, and you'll be wanting to hold both lockpicks in your hands asap. With the massive card draw embedded in the signature ability, that shouldn't be a problem.

  • Leo de Luca: Instead of using Milan to improve the seeker skills and ressource generation, I opted for the extra action to allow for more movements and action flexibility

  • Higher Education: having access to a lot of ressources and cards, makes this a no brainer. The one willpower drawback can be countered this way.

  • Liquid Courage: having one willpower and only 6 Sanity requires a solution even it that means losing a card in the process.

  • Lone Wolf / Faustian Bargain: This build consumes a lot of ressources. More than a the third of the time, you'll generate 3 ressources per turn and pay yourself out of trouble. Or more... Once you have Higher Education in play, you can't have enough $$

  • Hit me: just try it. It's the new 'lucky' or 'Live and Learn'. One of the best events in the game as you'll try odds you wouldn't otherwise and improve your tempo

  • You Handle this one: In a 2 player campaign with a figher/mystic, any enemy or annoying skill check can be passed on

  • Breaking and Entering: no explanations needed. It uses his best stats, grabs clues and manages enemies.

  • Inter Report: just pay for the info. No questions asked. EZ

  • Think on your feet: this card shines with him. Every time an enemy arrives, you have the possibility of a free move. That's massive advantage.

  • Nimble: another way to move without using actions.

  • No need to explain Quick Thinking: free actions are always nice.

Many maps on Innsmouth are rather large and Jack was able to leverage his mobility quite a bit. We've just started this campain on Hard mode, and it's been a walk in the park (5+6 XP).

Jack's a house - a tier 1 investigator for sure.

XP path : R1: Archive of Conduits (4) + Hiking Boots (1) R2: Prophesiae Profana (5) + Eon Chart (1) R3: we're planning to kill the mob using the mobility of the conduits...
