The point of this deck is to get low early (be it with encounter cards that penalizes you under a certain threshold, tanking for your team, or activating locations from the missions) in order to stack stats easily and stabilize with your events card to prevent yourself from dying. In the thick of things help your start with red tarot that are core for calvin (anna Kaslow enable 2 tarot at a time later in a scenario). The fact that you can artificially improves your health and mental tankiness means not only that dying is less of a concern (as for actually any character) but for Calvin it also very crucially jumpstarts your stats before even beginning the game so you take less time to set up. (more XP and the trauma gives you stats from the very beginning) The weakness of Calvin can be overwhelming very fast in a campaign Setting but, if managed carefully also helps you being able to start any mission with stats.
