deck overview

DISCLAIMER: this deck DOES NOT aim to hit the +2 damage on the Katana. Instead, it takes advantage of its +2 in conjunction with Dirty Fighting to test at a decent 7 (before other boosts), a lot of times.

YES, it does 1 damage per hit in most cases. Hence the name of the deck. This deck is just for fun, I just wanted to play the Katana myself. It's still a decent Dirty Fighting deck and can serve a standard campaign.

As for piloting, play Dirty Fighting, Delilah O'Rourke and Katana ASAP.

When fighting, start with evasion, as any good Dirty Fighting deck, then spam Katana first ability until the enemy has 1 hp, only to finish it in style with its second fight ability, using . If you happen to crit (i.e. proccing the +2 damage), cool, you critted.

Remember that Katana's second ability can be used during the enemy phase (expecially between the "hunter enemies move" and the "engaged enemies attack" steps, see notable combos section below).

role - fighter

suggested environment - 2+, standard

deck archetype/keystone (if any) - agility matters, Dirty Fighting

notable tech cards and combos

  • Finding your assets is crucial: use "Where's the party?" and Prepared for the Worst when given the opportunity.
  • "Where's the party?" comboes with both Bewitching and Dirty Fighting: you get the draw, a specific trick card, and the +2 skill value bonus for the whole turn.
  • Dirty Fighting, "Skids" O'Toole and Galvanize enable multiple additional fight actions to boost Hardboiled. All these options allow you to use the on the Katana, not just a basic fight action.
  • Hatchet Man + Delilah O'Rourke means fast (almost) untested damage is an option.
  • Galvanize can ready the Katana, giving you effectly 2 more fight actions (1 from the event, and 1 from the Katana being ready again for its second ability).
  • You can do cool combos with Bulwark like hitting with Katana's second ability during any window, blocking the enemy attack (it does not have to attack you!) during the enemy phase with Bulwark, than attack again during the second window in the enemy phase, getting the Katana to ready again during upkeep.
  • The combo above can also be done during any investigator's turn by simply proccing Bulwark with an AoO.
  • Seal the +1 (if there is one: if there is none and you cannot find a at the table, chances are you are playing on the wrong difficulty setting for this deck and are in for big troubles).

This is a quick overview of a deck I played. All decks are presented with the minimum exp needed to highlight their main gimmick. Further upgrade ideas may be shown in the “side deck” section. Environment: legacy, TDC release, taboo 24.10
