Fry's Inconsistent Starter Tuneup (FIST)
Many folks have noticed that the starter decks as packaged in Core 2026 are very inconsistent, and in places even incoherent, due to including just a single copy of each class card that the investigator is allowed to take, rather than placing the class cards with investigators that are best equipped to make use of them. This series of decks (FIST) is intended to upgrade the starters by moving cards around to decks where they make more sense, while still allowing you to keep five decks built at all times (in case you want to take it to a pickup game night, etc.). These decks are not intended to be the strongest possible to build out of the box, but rather, they are intended to allow you to have five ready-to-play decks where you won't constantly be getting "why is this card in my deck" questions from new players.
Daniela Reyes tuneup
As packaged, Daniela's deck is honestly fine, there's just some cognitive overload of having to read and figure out what to do with a bunch of cards that do similar things. Izzy really needs to double up on several of the cards, so those were passed to her, and some of the clue cards are not particularly helpful to Joe so those were reclaimed from him. I waffled on the M1911/Machete split; you could just as well go the other way.
Strategy
You are the fighter, your job is to defeat enemies that threaten your team. Mulligan for your weapons (Daniela's Wrench, M1911, Machete), and if you don't have one of those in your first five cards, hang on to Right Tool for the Job to try to find one. If you do have a weapon, look for Logan Hastings and Emergency Cache. You're not completely useless at finding clues, since you have Lesson Learned and Scene of the Crime, but hopefully a teammate will be able to carry you a bit on that front.
