From rugs to riches.

Concept

The question was this: Can Pete make it without being broke all the time(Dark Horse)? And the answer was hell yes.

Everything comes down to economy management. Getting your Scrapper(4) means you will be stronger but also more prone to be broke, ashcan. Granny Orne(3) will have a great impact, hopefully in your second scenario.

Every icon in your skill cards translates to resources saved from Scrapper(4). Grisly Totem +1 is invaluable, Granny Orne(3) +1 is game changer.

The deck has a plethora of cards to be discarded for Duke and be committed to tests. Make sure you spend a Lucky! or Live and Learn early to make use of Resourceful for another go.

You are strong and with Grisly Totem even stronger. The upgrades are straight forward, no card should be swapped.

Options

Drawing Thin(3) is chained which makes Take Heart and Track Shoes less of an attractive option. "Ashcan" Pete's elder sign ability adds another nail to the coffin for Take Heart.

You could opt to include Alyssa Graham instead of Granny Orne for your first scenario and Winging It instead of Working a Hunch, but that will cost you some extra xp to finalize the shape of the deck.

Winging It is not that great solo, especially when you upgrade Granny Orne(3) and roll investigates with a value of 5 along with Duke. Also Granny Orne(3) will give you one more extra point when actually needed.

There is no straight card draw, so value your Overpower, Perception and Resourceful high. Grisly Totem(3) will make sure you don't waste your precious card draws.

Working a Hunch is fast, which is precious for action compression and also provides a valuable 2 for a random check. Prioritize Perception and Unexpected Courage for checks.

Last but not least, Improvised Weapon will give you the ability to do 6 damage in a single round if needed.

Good luck, you are not going to need it though. You will always have cards to throw and Duke to cover your back.
