WHAT'S THIS DECK ALL ABOUT

Tons of investigate actions and no Ace in the Hole, no Haste and no Borrowed Time. How is this possible?

You will be the main clue grabber, but without alot of . The Skeleton Key makes sure that you can reliably find clues. Check Action 7-9 below for the amazingness.

HOW TO ACHIEVE 10+ ACTIONS EACH TURN

  • ACTION 1 Attach the Skeleton key on your location.

  • ACTION 2-4: Use both Eon Chart and Eon Chart to get +1move/evade and 2 investigate actions.

  • LIGHTNING STUFF Activate Joey "The Rat" Vigil to discard both Eon Charts and get +4 coins.

  • ACTION 5 Use the Lockpicks to do a value 7 search on the keys location. Pray or pay and overshoot by +2 to activate both Scavengings. Retake both your Eon Charts.

  • ACTION 6 Use Bob Jenkins ability to get put one Eon Chart once more into play.

  • LIGHTNING STUFF Use Joey "The Rat" Vigil to put the other Eon Chart in play.

  • THE AMAZING ACTION 7-9 Your Eon Charts are no longer exhausted. Rejoice and do +1 movement and 2 investigate actions.

  • ACTION 10 Pay Day Right?

In total you did: 2 moves, 5 investigates, 1 play item and 2 random actions

SETUP

You'll need to earn 13/17xp to get all the pieces together in addition to In the Thick of It. The upgraded Backpack is optional but will greatly improve the consistency of the deck and makes this deck easy to set up.

As soon as you get the The Skeleton Key in play, you can start investigating. With every piece of the combo your action total will increase.

UPGRADE PATH: THE ESSENCE

  1. The Skeleton Key
  2. Backpack 2x
  3. Eon Chart 1x
  4. Joey "The Rat" Vigil 1x
  5. Relic Hunter

UPGRADE PATH: MORE GREED

MULLIGAN

You are looking for: The Skeleton Key, Backpack, Scavenging. I would be quiet happy with the Lockpicks and Joey "The Rat" Vigil. But Joey only gets necessary after a few turns.

THE FIRST SCENARIO

You wont have The Skeleton Key yet. But even with just Old Keyring and the 1 Lockpicks you should be able to find 1 or 2 clues each turn.

GOING OVER EVERY CARD

Lockpicks: Essential to easily activate the Scavenging investigate and succeed by +2 check.

Old Keyring: Backup card for the first two scenario's.

Eon Chart: You can usually pay the price with the Schoffner's Catalogue. So it's still really good. When Eon Chart runs out of secrets you can play the other Eon Chart and get the extra activation of right away.

Backpack is an amazing tutor card that speeds up this deck enormously, allowing you to quickly find the key assets: The Skeleton Key, Schoffner's Catalogue, Lockpicks and the Eon Chart.

Bandages cute little healing card. I would use Joey "The Rat" Vigil before it runs out of the last supply

Scavenging Essential cards to recycle the Eon Chart and the Schoffner's Catalogue

Schoffner's Catalogue Really sweet economy card for Bob Jenkins, simply because it's an item. I would use Joey "The Rat" Vigil on it, before it runs out of secrets.

Shrewd Dealings I know some people are really excited about the multiplayer aspect of this card, but I dont know if you can reliably find this in your deck unless you get help from No Stone Unturned. The-1 cost is solid if you pull this card early. Note that it does not exhaust.

Streetwise If only the upgraded permanent version was not that expensive.

Thermos This card really enables In the Thick of It. Its a damn fine healing card.

Track Shoes Maybe it will see some use? I think its a strong situational card.

Well Connected This card is essentially how you deal with willpower checks during the Mythos Phase.

Emergency Cache Money.

Faustian Bargain More money

Lucky! It's good.

Tempt Fate I am not a big fan of this card. But since this deck is a combo deck, these tempt fates are essentially a way to thin your deck. Also, your occasional Bless/Curse friend will be happy if you bring them along.

Perception Card draw. Dont sit on them. Just use them to get the combo. If you got all the combo pieces you can use them if the Lockpicks whiff.

Take Heart Money and cards.

Greed You are hoarding coins anyway to enjoy the Well Connected and the optional The Black Fan. You can safely ignore this weakness. Dont draw too many cards unless you have 11 coins though.

In the Thick of It Amazing! Obviously you should take 2 mental trauma and get the benefit from the Thermos.

CURRENT PLAY

I just finished scenario 1 in the Edge of the Earth on Hard and its working out as intended. I would really love to have +1 investigate from Lola Santiago because the -4 chaos tokens are annoying. I usually use Streetwise and pay 2 coins. I have really come to love my Backpack.

Good combo and nice deck ! :)

Though, as the Eon Chart double action (move + investigate) can't be interrupted by let's say... a "put The Skeleton Key on a location" action, I guess you would have to either :

1- Not move (can you choose to not move with the Eon Chart ???)
2- Investigate without the Key the first tim you enter a location

Am I right or is there someway to avoid that ?

@captainfire You are correct, you can't use skeleton key, and then move+investigate via Eon Chartm as you wouldnt be at the location with the Skeleton key either.

If you choose "move" , you also have to move, so best choose Evade+investigate.

Or imho, just ditch the abit exaggerated combo and do it with the lvl 1 version of Eon charts. Still enough actions gained, and 6 exp cheaper to assemble.

Whats not mentioned in the description, is that skeleton key actually needs 2 actions to set up. 1 to detach it from an empty/0-clue location, and another one to re-attach it to your new one.

So, depending on your player count, it might be much more action efficient to ditch Skeleton key and run something like Flashlights instead. Ofc it has less of an explosive turn when everything falls together, but is more constant as you just need to replay a Flashlight every 3 hard investigates (which is just 1 effective resource needed with Joey, as you can sell empty Flashlights for 2 bucks), than having to hard pay 2 actions each time you enter a new location just to start doing something.

@Shakiko and @captainfire Yes, I quickly came to the same realisation last game that the Skeleton Key and the Eon Chart dont interact perfectly. Skipping the upgrade and staying on lvl1 seems to be a fine solution.

Player Count I am playing 3-player and our flex mage is always happy when Bob attaches the key. In a 2 player game Flashlight or Old keyring (you can still sell it, right after you use the last secret) can replace it. Although I must add that in 2 player you really miss cards like deduction.

Extra purchase Not listed in the deck Upgrade path, but not finding the Joey "The Rat" Vigil or the second Scavenging has been a nuisance. So I recommend getting Black Market to speed up the deck searches even more.
