This is a 10xp deck showing how Akachi can become nearly invincible after just a few scenarios.

The key point here is that Spirit-Speaker can target Grotesque Statue. There is no requirement that Spirit-Speaker target a Spell. Any card with "Use Charges" is a legal target. This means that if you have Spirit-Speaker out with a Grotesque Statue, you can essentially draw 2 chaos tokens for every skill test.

But even if you do not get Spirit-Speaker out early, Akachi is very robust. The vast majority of Akachi Onyele's skill tests will use , and this deck has 2x Holy Rosary, 2x Spirit Athame and 2x Grotesque Statue, so ~90% of the time you can have something helping your first turn.

This deck can work well with many different investigators. Anyone who can reliably help on the combat side and has access to the 0-level seeker pool is a good fit. This includes Roland Banks, Zoey Samaras, Jenny Barnes, "Ashcan" Pete. Lola Hayes may be a stretch. It is extremely useful to have someone with access to 0-level seeker cards because he can take No Stone Unturned and Old Book of Lore to help Akachi find Spirit-Speaker.

Note that Torrent of Power becomes super-powered once Spirit-Speaker is out since this deck has 6 cards that use charges. You can easily give your partner +5 or +3 of anything else by sacrificing 2 counters, which you can just refresh using Spirit-Speaker.

The Fine Clothes is there mostly to protect against asset-destroying cards (Passage into the Veil or a bad luck Crypt Chill), but it also gives you an extra damage soak and helps in those rare cases where you need to parley, especially as that may entail using or some other skill.

The Quantum Flux are also there as a safety valve in case a bad luck discard makes you lose one of your key spells and Spirit-Speaker.

Cool deck, I'd be interested in seeing how a lv.0 deck looks as a way to start out and build towards this.

Love the idea of grotesque statue combo with spirit speaker....Just some of my ideas:

1) isn't 1 copy of quantum flux enough given you're not going to use it early game & arcane initiate is going to thin the deck anyway

2) this deck's begging for a copy of 'recharge' (x2 exp) to boost grotesque up until you see your spirit speaker (hey you could even use grotesque statue once to make it work)

3) and won't u love to show off & make storm of spirits work just once (grotesque statue again to make sure of it)...

@shazzner, I think it depends on what your partner is doing, but the 0-level version of this deck would replace the 4 non-0 level cards with some combination of flashlight, skill cards, and perhaps one Arcane Studies.

Depends a lot on whether you need to pick up clues using

@OzValdo I agree with your second and third point. I was trying to keep this as small-exp as possible. As far as Quantum Flux goes, you may be right, but some scenarios do have a lot of discard in them and sometimes you hit some really bad luck. I'm willing to have a couple "Hope I never need them" cards. At least they have a useful icon and give you a draw :)

Quantum Flux is almost a must-include for Dunwich.

FBones, have you run this build Solo at all? How did the fair? Do you think this is a viable solo build? Would you make any changes to the design to make it more viable (boosts to clue collection and/or combat)?

@theSlex, While I think something similar is a viable build (at least on Standard), recognize that mystics are always going to be shorted on solo because they tend to get clues 2-at-a-time, and in solo there are going to be lots of locations with just a single clue.

On solo you are going to want Flashlight and Storm of Spirits. The former to pick up the odd clues, the latter to give you a better chance of surviving an early monster. Throwing one or two Knifes into the mix is probably also wise.

I have never played Akachi solo (I don't play solo much), but I think with those changes she would do great on Standard and have a tolerable chance on Hard.
