Main Strategy

Way up High ...
  • Walter Fitzpatrick is your main contact in the political sphere, helping you gather funds for your operations and rally new "friends" to the network.

  • However, when interacting with members of the high society, a strict dress-code is in order if one wants to be taken seriously.

  • An imporant source of spendings is the gathering of enemy intelligence to prevent from the mythos coming down on the head of the operation.

    • This card is your main answer to treacheries from the encounter deck. Remember that this card also has which can be used defensively even without any resources.
  • The mundane parties are Alessandra's natural habitat, where she can use her charm and charisma to make connections and expand her network. And even when she isn't invited, she knows how to find her way in.

    • Beguile allows you to use enemies to discover clues or evade with increaded accuracy when paired with Walter Fitzpatrick and Fine Clothes. Keeping a beguiled enemy around can be tricky, but your additional action helps to keep it exhausted or away from you if it becomes meddlesome.
    • "Where's the party?" helps to find an enemy for you to parley with and provides more card draw. The enemy spawning on top of you also gives you a free Bewitching , which you can use to draw Beguile and start parleying your way to victory.

... Or Down Low

A lesser known part of Alessandra's life is her conection to the criminal underworld, which help her accomplish things she couldn't when simply posing as a jovial countess.

  • Chuck Fergus is her contact which has a priviledged connection with the O'Bannions. With their power, they can make many of Alessandra's activities much easier...

    • Easy Mark and Grift benefit immensely from Chuck Fergus, the former by becoming and the latter by being further boosted to gain some additional resources.
  • Breaking and Entering is Chuck Fergus's main target in the mid/late stage of a scenario. With the accumulated resources from other cards, you are often free to use either the +2 skill value to ensure it returns to your hand, or make the event for better tempo against lower shroud locations. The upgrade even allows you to do both.

  • The Black Market is full of everything Alessandra could ever need, and ensures that she can use every situation and encounter to its fullest potential.

    • With only 5 skills, Black Market is very likely to reveal 3-4 playable cards, including resource generation, parley events and Ally or Item assets. If you've already drawn your key assets, don't forget that it can also be used on teammates to help them find theirs.
  • Getting some dirt on important players is a strong way to gather well-kept secrets, allowing you to investigate the mythos using the intel others have gathered for you.

    • Blackmail raises Allessandra's to 6, which is often enough to investigate 2-3 shroud locations without further boosts. Don't forget that you don't have to spend evidence when using it, nor are you forced to discard it after using all the evidence. You do however need to have an enemy around, which is useful for many cards of this deck anyway.

Other Cards
  • Motivational Speech : a strong early play to get Chuck Fergus or Walter Fitzpatrick in play at a discount, and make use of Alessandra's free Parley action before enemies spawn.

  • Drain Essence : a card that combine healing and damage in a neat package. Boosting it often necessitates Walter Fitzpatrick or Fine Clothes, but since it's healing effect is often more useful later on in a scenario, this isn't really a problem.

  • Stir the Pot : mostly a tech card against The Feast of Hemlock Vale, which features many encounters with multiple enemies at once (The Silent Heath, The Longest Night). Alessandra hit 5 targets at once in the former, and 4 in the latter.

  • Vamp : a simple Parley card with many useful options depending on the situation.

  • Guts, Perception, Manual Dexterity : Just some staple skill cards to round out the deck. Guts provides additional defense against treacheries on top of Counterespionage, while the latter two just make you better at doing what you want to do anyway. With the risk of losing Beguile when using it, you may end up commiting more than you would otherwise need when using it to keep it in play, and these cards help with doing so while cycling themselves.
