4 Player Compatible
I've seen a lot of requests for 4 player compatible decks for Brethren of Ash (i.e. requiring one core set) - this is my take on it. I don't play 4 player so these are untested, but I'm sure they'll work fine (and there's a number of concepts similar to playtested decks). I'll keep these guides briefer than normal!
NOTE: The version issue persists on ArkhamDB where you can't post decks with new versions of old cards. Please use Ch2 cards of the same name in all cases.
Overview
Stats Clue-finding: ★★★☆☆ Consistency: ★★★★☆ Enemy Management: ★★★★☆ Encounter Defense: ★★★★☆ Survivability: ★★★☆☆ Simplicity: ★★★★☆
Role: Jack of all trades, horror cleric, occasional evader.
Concepts and Combos: With Jim Culver you can clue-find at a 6 with Second Sight or fight at an 8 with upgraded Cosmic Flame. Hand-Crank Flashlight and Thieves' Kit provide back-up clue-finding options while your spells come online, as does Will of the Cosmos. Lucky Charm allows you to move horror off other investigators, which Fearless can then heal. If you haven't found Cosmic Flame evading is a possibility with this deck, with there being 9 and icons respectively - as well as Premonition to help make your next test a guarantee.
Drawbacks: Lucky Cigarette Case was gobbled up by Trish's deck, so card draw isn't as strong and Jim Culver is your main option for this. The deck is resource poor on the whole, Paint the Town Red should only typically be used in scenario 2 where it can draw a 4 health Elusive enemy (otherwise basic resource actions are better).
Campaign starter and planned progression
For the starter deck, please remove any XP bearing cards and instead use the cards listed in the side deck. A recommended order of purchases/upgrades is:
-
1 x Cosmic Flame → 1 x Cosmic Flame •••••
-
1 x Cosmic Flame → 1 x Cosmic Flame •••••
Final thoughts
Hope you enjoy something that works for four player (I'm lazily going to use this outro on all decks!). For more optimal decks for lower player counts, I would suggest using the fully playtested decks I posted previously. Let me know what you think...
