This is the standalone (19 XP) Mark deck I used for the Blob who ate Everything at PAX Unplugged 2019.

I ended up with Haunted and Through the Gates as my 2 Basic Weaknesses which weren't too bad. I drew into Haunted very early and got rid of it, and Through the Gates killed my Flashlights about halfway through the scenario.

I started with a Flashlight but quickly ended up dual-wielding 2x Survival Knife for the majority of the scenario. This proved to be quite effective as I could typically deal 4-6 actionless damage in the enemy phase (using e.g. Vicious Blow or The Home Front with the Survival Knife), then heal my damage back with Second Wind, Emergency Aid or Soothing Melody

I was able to spend most of the scenario at 4 damage or less on Mark (I don't think Sophie ever flipped). I did get up to 3 horror at one point which was a bit scary, but thankfully the Hallowed Mirror came out with about 3 cards left in my deck which allowed me to quickly draw and play all 3 copies of Soothing Melody and heal back to nearly full health/sanity again.

I've never used Second Wind before, but I think it makes a lot of sense for Mark as a cheaper Emergency Aid.

I ended up holding Timeworn Brand in my hand for almost the entire scenario. I think I drew into it on turn 2 or 3, but never had a chance to afford to play it.

I did also make a clutch attack with the Mk 1 Grenades killing 3 enemies in a single go.

Some other random thoughts

  • Bandolier turned out to be useless. I did manage to get it into play, but then not enough resources to ever play a 3rd asset into the extra hand slots
  • Ace of Swords was similarly discarded at some point since 3 resources and an action to install it was a bit much. Mark already fights at 7 with the Survival Knife so an extra +1 was not really necessary.
  • I definitely could have used another Shortcut (or any Fast cards in general) as my hand was frequently at 8 cards but not enough resources or actions to play any of them. I forgot how much Mark can draw!
  • Ever Vigilant definitely very powerful. In campaign play I normally go for Stick to the Plan and 1x Ever Vigilant but I didn't really want to spend 6XP on Stick to the Plan for standalone.
