I thought it might be fun to have a go at making a Jim deck that focused specifically on healing. Jim's Trumpet is not the most exciting of signature items as it only triggers when a is drawn and takes up a valuable hand slot, but it does do a decent job of healing horror in a multiplayer game where more tokens are drawn from the Chaos Bag each round. Eventually all of those negative modifiers and tokens will result in quite a bit of damage - plus trauma from scenarios starts to pile up too. So this Jim build combines his Trumpet with First Aid and Clarity of Mind to heal Horror, and with Medical Texts - with boosted by Alyssa Graham - to heal Damage and ensure Jim is drawing from the Chaos Bag even when there is nothing else for him to do (hopefully getting him some extra tokens). Jim is actually quite a good character to use Medical Texts despite his average as this can be boosted by Alyssa and Arcane Studies and he draws fewer negative modifiers from the Chaos Bag than other investigators.

This Jim is not built for combat - with only Shrivelling to defeat enemies - and instead focuses on evading any enemies that spawn in his location using Blinding Light and Think on Your Feet. He does, however, do a decent job at investigating thanks to Alyssa and Rite of Seeking and Fine Clothes means he can Parley well when the scenario calls for it. This build works well wth a combat-focused investigator - particularly a glass cannon one such as Roland or "Skids" as Jim can handle most of the investigation work and the job of keeping them in fighting condition whilst they deal with any enemies that spawn, and is much better with more investigators as there will be more targets for his healing powers and there are more investigator actions overall so spending time on healing is not cutting too badly into the overall action pool.

For the spending of XP, Jim's normal favourite upgrade - Grotesque Statue - is out as he needs both hands for healing items. Jewel of Aureolus, however, is excellent as it provides card draw and resources which he really appreciates to get set up and so should be the first purchase for this deck. After that, focus on upgrading cards in the deck - Blinding Light, Shrivelling and Rite of Seeking are all excellent upgrades that help keep Jim alive and improve his performance at combat or investigation. Ward of Protection is expensive in terms of XP but the ability to completely cancel any encounter card can be game-saving and Jim certainly has the tools to heal the Horror he needs to take for using it.
