This is a deck I have had some great success with once I get some XP, it starts okay but I think it could be better (advice and suggestions welcomed). I opted to not take too many spells and play her like a fighter who is strong against the encounter deck and can help others with the chaos bag and the encounter deck. Clue gather is left to the rest of the team with Grete Wagner been the only card which helps.
Her Weakness is her stat line with only 3 fight you either have to use mystic spells of which the best for her situation are the single use Spectral Razor and later Radiant Smite
This reason I start with 8 Weapons and 4 allies as you need to have one in play at all times just to be 4/5 to hit before buffing with Icons, they also help with soak.
Her card ability is great but unreliable it should not really be factored into you odds when deciding how many points you want to be up by when pulling from the bag, instead think of it as a way it may save you from the less likely draws like -5, it can help out with the tests you don't really mind failing and those last ditch push's when you have to take a bad pull from the bag.
Her Skill Cards help buff either herself to do damage or a team survive the encounter deck.
I took all four ward Cards as these are always good cards which help keep you ahead you should save Ward of Radiance until you have a good ratio of bless token (at least 5 in 15 strong chaos bag), it's worth noting it can be used on an team mate at the same location. The upgraded Ward of Protection work anywhere on the board so save these for Ancient Evils or the worst of the encounter deck.
I would advise running her as the Lead in the gathering first, if you can get through this with Lita Chantler this and three mental Trauma you dont become quite the power house.
Early upgrades Sacred Covenant - 2Xp Beat Cop into Beat Cop - 2xp Radiant Smite swapping out the Enchanted Blade .45 Automatic into .45 Automatic Charisma - 3XP Ward of Protection into Ward of Protection - 2xp
Late Game upgrades Machete into Enchanted Blade - 3xp Grete Wagner into Grete Wagner - 3XP .45 Thompson into a power weapon of choice
Depending the campaign you are play you will want to slot in a version of the below: Stick to the Plan - 6XP Versatile - 2XP Dodge Emergency Cache Or its upgraded ones Dynamite Blast Or its upgraded ones Extra Ammunition - 1xp or Custom Ammunition - 3XP Astounding Revelation (triggers for stick to the plan search)

Apr 05, 2021Happy to help as best I can! :-) I think it's important to get +2 weapons on Mary given her starting 3. Toward this end, I think I would make the following edits:
This leaves you with 4 weapons at +2 and a search card to help find them. The search will still have value as you upgrade into bigger weapons. Also, you can later upgrade Prepared for the Worst into Backpack (2), which is a great search card that can also help you find Extra Ammunition if you get that later. I appreciate how Grete Wagner gives +, and she's rather pricey for getting +. I think I would replace her with Guard Dog which is cheaper and provides guaranteed damage. If you feel the need for consistent + later, I think Ace of Swords is a fine addition. I agree with I still have three cards to replace because of my opening card edits. I think adding Daring and Overpower would be great for more icons and more card draw. Hope this is helpful! :-) |
I don't see a lot of ways to add Bless for use with Rite or Ward. Are you counting on other players to do that? My other thought is possibly Daring instead of Take the Initiative - if you're focused on being the party fighter. I can see TTI for encounter deck but Daring might get more use outside of action 1. It would also give you a little card draw which right now is missing.
