All right if your are reading this your about to see something special, I don't know why but this deck worked really well, and boy was it fun to play. When I played this it was a 2 investigator game and as you can probably tell Wendy was not for killing. We ran through the Return to Circle Undone cycle and I do mean RAN THROUGH, Track Shoes.

So what happened you ask, Mariner's Compass came through in a big way. The synergy with Dark Horse is obvious but Wendy's discard ability and cards like Winging It being ready to use from the discard when things didn't work perfectly for the compass, or if you wanted 4 clues in 2 actions, or later when you upgrade to Newspaper, the clues just keep coming. You can get clues from so many different angles and when the stars align just right you pull 3 with Mariner's Compass and Newspaper to start, then spend them and do it again, the Wages of Sin.

This is the exact way I started the campaign and yes after the fact I think I could trim and refine but it worked and it worked and it worked. For example, the Old Keyring ended up being upgraded to something else real quick. Waylay, despite being build beautifully for Wendy, also was cut quickly that may have been because the other investigator was Nathaniel Cho, but it also just ended up costing a bit too much, and here is the rub. You need to run this deck with no more then 3 resources to make sure that the compass can work. But I never once had to use the Dark Horse ability to "not gain a resource", who does that? In fact I regularly, almost every turn, used Madame Labranche to generate another resource, once I drew a card. This combo kept me at 1 or 2 resources for clue getting and the Track Shoes got me to where the clues were, I think I can safely say 2 Track Shoes to start would be great.

But wait you say that doesn't leave any cash to play cards! I KNOW, isn't that great! Once the machine is up let it run. But if your really feeling the need, and I did, upgrade to Pickpocketing. More cards, more money, more fun.

Keeping cost down was a big part of this decks success I would eventual go to Lucky! for that reason and A Test of Will for the same reason.

When I started this deck I was expecting to use Wendy's Amulet more which is why the event section is, let's say, inclusive. It never really came through for me, but I really didn't need it either.

The turn by turn for this deck was evade problems and bad token draws, let Nathaniel Cho do what he does and garb them clues fast. Strength checks, A Test of Will, starting out 1 above the check great no problem. Upgrading to A Test of Will and Déjà Vu even less of a problem. This is where my deck drifted. Because it starting working from the word go upgrades were more of a joy and not a necessity. I went with Guiding Spirit, Flare, Fortune or Fate to make better use of Déjà Vu but again these were all bonuses not necessities.

Critical upgrades:

Dig Deep x2

Newspaper x2? (I only went with 1 but by the end saw the error in my ways)

Yeap, that's about it. Again I didn't hate Pickpocketing, but it is not "critical".

I gained another level of consistency when I went with Sharp Vision and I think you can gain some flexibility by going with Brute Force.

Speaking of flexibility, with my play through I got away from damage and killing but all the tools are there for that support damage role in this starting deck. And I am sure a few tweaks might make it formidable, get rid of Newspaper and go with Fire Axe. Her Strength is still a hurdle but I don't think it can't be overcome.

That's a lot of good, so what's the bad... I didn't like pulling Abandoned and Alone? But who does? That being said I think this deck is overkill of clue getting if you run it solo, it may do just fine as the only clue getter for a 3 investigator run. If your at 4 you need someone else to pick up the scraps. I did only use her in Return to the Circle Undone, I can't see any problems in other cycles but if you give her a go let me know what you struggled with.

Thanks for looking this over and I hope you liked what you saw.
