The idea is to use the expose upgrade on Damning Testimony to discard enemies up to 5 health and recur back using Joey and Scavenging. You can clear all non-elite monsters on your teammates as well as on yourself thanks to Finn's free evade, who even needs guns?

After having the cards you need, for 3 recourses and 1 action you can get 1 or 2 clues and discard a tough enemy. You can usually do this twice per turn: investigate with Damning Testimony, trash it with Joey, do a normal investigation to get it back and use it again on your third action, bypassing the exhaust limit.

This is enough most of the time, but if you want something crazy you can even do it three times in a row by having two Scavenging in play and drawn both Damning Testimony, you'd only wish there are more targets.

The gameplay is simple, get the three key cards as soon as possible, the rest of cards are only for money/card/success. In a 4 player game, you can just stay on a low-shroud location and command your teammates to running around while you take care of the monsters and get clues from away.

Brilliant deck! Always fun to see Scavenging used in new and novel ways.

Sadly, Finn's free evade action has no interaction with Damning Testimony. So I'm assuming you mean he can try to evade an enemy on himself with his free action, and then try to Damning Testimony: Expose away an enemy at another location.

Other investigators who can pull off the Damning Testimony + Scavenging combo include:

  • Jenny Barnes, who has better resources but only 3 intellect.
  • Bob Jenkins, who can get by without Joey due to his free item action, and whose Shrewd Dealings makes this cheaper.
  • Most other Rogues willing to Versatile in Scavenging (though not Preston as he can't take Illicit cards).

Finn's main selling point is probably Smuggled Goods to search for the Damning Testimony, though cards like Friends in Low Places and Underworld Market make this less of an issue.

Sounds a fun combo. Bob Jenkins looks like the best to run it. But this is a co-op game, so play whatever you find fun and thematic.

@Yellow_Peril Thanks for the comment, I've considered Bob during deckbuilding, but it doesn't really get by Joey "The Rat" Vigil, as Joey saves two action by having the ability to discard Damning Testimony after use. Otherwise you'll need one action to discard Damning Testimony by go over hand slot, then one action to play it again. I feels it's more thematic to use Joey to trash a item you just used right away. It would be redundant to run Joey on Bob, but yes you can do them same thing with Bob and use Leo instead.

Cool idea ! I want to try this in Bob. What about Sleight of Hand ? Get 2 uses of Testimony for 0 action in Bob. I know Sleight of Hand was tabooed to be level 0-3 item only but in my mind this was intended to exclude big weapons mostly. Also in Bob: Act of Desperation? Maybe too situational needing an enemy at your location, but could be a way to discard Testimony without having to push it and gain some resources in the process.

You could always run 2 lvl0 Switchblades to put the empty Damning Testimony in the discard :)

Is there anything stopping you from discarding DT with Joey during the in DT investigation, meaning you could get it back with scavenging due to its own successful investigation? This could save you an action per turn if you've just investigating to pick it back up

@jw24601I believe it is similar to Ice Pick/Scavenging timing where Scavenging triggers before you could use DT's effect, so unfortunately you cannot get it back in the same investigate action.

Why not skeleton key instead of two flashlights? Maybe add an upgraded backpack that can then be used to dig for your damning testimony too. Sure picking it up sucks, but it’s not like you’re gonna cluever up the clues. You’re gonna get them one at a time at your location, and hopefully one at your teammates locations as you snipe the baddies off them (I am playing 3p). A bandage could be awesome for recurring healing, and maybe a lone wolf to trigger your stylish coat. 2 extra resources passively.
