This is my first attempt at doing something more than "let's sit at the table, grab some cards and play."

I did the core campaign 2 times, and the Dunwich campaign once, each time with the same 2nd player. Until now we only did specialized fighter / specialized clue gatherer, so we wanted to try Dunwich again with balanced investigators, me with Agnes while my girlfriend plays Jenny.

After reading a bit, and particularly this deck, I saw the potential of Agnes.

Since I miss two cards from the mentioned deck in my collection, I chose to replace them with Forbidden Knowledge and Blinding Light.

Here are my doubts about the deck, I hope you guys can tell me what you think.

  • I am unsure of the Baseball Bat, maybe Fire Axe would be better given I have Forbidden Knowledge? Or one card of each weapon? Or completely different weapons?
  • Delve Too Deep looks fun, but I'm afraid this is for seasoned players that already know the full content of the encounter deck.
  • I'm thinking of maybe leaving the Lucky! cards to Jenny, and later directly grab the upgraded ones so that we're all very lucky. But is this even legal?
  • About Drawn to the Flame: As with Delve Too Deep, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this card. I wonder how it will play out given that with 2x Rite of Seeking I'll probably be able to research 6 times...

If I get rid of Delve Too Deep and/or Drawn to the Flame, I might replace them with either Flashlight, Arcane Studies, Ritual Candles and/or Scrying.

Any suggestion welcome! Thank you!

I have no experience with Baseball Bat. When I played Agnes, which was true solo Dunwich, I also included Flashlight to get more consistent in clue finding than just relying on Rite of Seeking alone. I therefore wanted a one-hand weapon and also picked Fire Axe. It was sometimes stingy with resources, because I also didn't have "Carcosa" at that time, but it was the only time, I won a full campaign on true solo. (Although I did a big rule mistake in "Where Doom Awaits", which made it quite easier. This was kind of errata'dn in the "Return" version, so I don't feel to bad about it.)

Forbidden Knowledge is worth considering in Agnes, but less so to fix the resource problem, than to trigger her ability on demand and possibly in a phase, you couldn't trigger it otherwise. It can also be useful, if you have doom generators like Arcane Initiate or David Renfield in play and troubles getting rid of them in time before the agenda advances. Since it exhausts, it won't do you much help to get your Shrivelling or (in particular) Rite of Seeking out, if you are broke. Simple Emergency Cache might better fit that bill, although it costs an action more and does not provide -pips.

I wouldn't be afraid of Delve Too Deep. I always take this card in , even on blind runs. Early additional XP is very powerful, and "Dunwich" provides less XP than other campaigns. Just don't play this card to early and without consideration of the risks.

The upgraded Lucky! is a bit expensive in XP just for a "draw 1 card" effect. In particular, if you don't recycle the card from the discard, which some are good at. But Agnes could just use Resourceful, which isn't that good, because it is a skill providing all icons except . (But since you pair with Jenny, you could consider committing it to her tests.) Still, upgrading your key spells is high priority, Lucky! (2) would be very luxury. Honestly, why not use the level 2 Lucky! as proxy for the level 0 version? It is easy enough to remember, that you are not allowed to draw a card with it, and if you play with sleeves, you could even include a little note as a reminder. It is definitely allowed to have two copies each among multiple investigators, regardless of level.

Drawn to the Flame is a very good card, I also often don't find a deckspace for. I have only one core, but sometimes proxy cards, I want two copies of a core card. (Like taking a Lucky! (2) as additional Lucky! (0), or a St. Hubert's Key as second Holy Rosary.) But I never did this with Drawn to the Flame. I agree, Flashlight is a good card for Agnes. I would easily take this over any of the other cards, you suggested. You could also consider "Look what I found!", if you want to use it on shroud 3 or 4 locations.

Have a great time frying Whippoorwills with the power of your mind. Agnes is a very good pick for fist . Very powerful and fun to play!
