Clue-getting Finn to pair with a Leo Anderson deck in our first run through of TFA. This deck is about running away, getting clues, and some damage with Backstab/Sneak Attack when it's needed. Streetwise will make this thing go. Boosts evasion + Backstabbing; ensures strong investigation after first scenario gate.
-
Action Economy: Deduction, Eavesdrop, & Double or Nothing when I need 2 clues from a location.
-
Card Draw: Pickpocketing provides the card draw, but it doesn't really get going until the lvl 2 version. Update: Lucky Cigarette Case comes out in Threads of Fate and greatly improves card draw.
-
Money: Lone Wolf for a drip economy, then Pickpocketing for money on big evades. Considering Burglary, but worried it's too slow. No Emergency Cache is a gamble, but nothing here is that expensive until I get Streetwise. After adding Streetwise, should Adaptable in more money cards, like EM Cache, "Watch this!", and Hot Streak.
-
Allies: Other allies better than Peter Sylvestre? Leo Anderson is my partner and wants the other Leo. I probably need Peterto throw horror onto. Dr. Milan Christopher is also powerful, though I don't know if I want to invest in a Charisma to run him with Peter, and I think he is too expensive to play if I didn't draw him early. Update: Lola Santiago comes out in Heart of Elders and is an excellent Finn ally.
Other thoughts
- As I upgrade into Lockpicks & weapons for hands slots, maybe swap Mag Glass for Milanand get Charisma.
- Initially, very few illicit cards. Those will come as I get XP.
- Since I am trying out Stealth, I might not need Manual Dexterity. Stealth is like Manual Dexterity on demand, minus the card draw.
Must get:
- Streetwise (3)
- Pickpocketing (2) illicit
- Lockpicks (1) illicit
- Adaptable (1)
Other upgrades:
- Charisma (3)
- Switchblade (2) illicit
- Lupara (3) illicit + Sleight of hand
- Chicago Typewriter (4) illicit
- Sure Gamble
- Ace in the Hole
- Moment of Respite
- Key of Ys
Wanted in Seeker/Survivor
- Lucky
- Deduction
- Dr. Milan
- Logical Reasoning
Not needed
- Leo de Luca (1): partnering with Leo Anderson, who will want him.
- Cat Burglar (1): Don't need the ability + getting the +1 agility from Peter Sylvestre.

Apr 12, 2021Hey, thanks for the recommendations. I didn't know about Lola Santiago or Lucky Cigarette Case yet (we have been going through the campaigns without looking at future packs), but now that I've seen both of them I agree they are shoo-ins for this Finn deck. I Adaptable-d in the cigarette case immediately and just saw Lola when we opened the Heart of Elders pack last night. Since my partner is doing all the enemy killing, I think I'm going to try to grab a Charisma & two Lola's instead of going the Sleight of Hand + Lupara | Chicago Typewriter route. What do you think about that? I also agree about Logical Reasoning. I had made an "end goal" version of this Finn deck that included Logical Reasoning and already swapped out Mag Glass for it. Forgot to add it to the write-up, but added it now! |
Apr 12, 2021Not sure if you meant two Lolas at once - she is a unique ally so you can only have one of her out. But I would highly recommend getting two of her so you can find her more easily and replace her if she dies. Charisma would help if you wanted to take another ally, like Dr. Milan Christopher or that Cat Burglar. Another card you might consider is the upgrade Sneak Attack, which doesn't require the enemy to be exhausted, just not engaged with you. |
Apr 12, 2021Yes, I meant two cards to increase the chances of finding her. I'm with you on Sneak Attack and plan to make that upgrade soon, especially if I keep Stealth. |
So Finn might prefer Lola Santiago eventually anyway, in which case you'll have lost your level 0 slot, or have to spend xp to backfill - what about taking Logical Reasoning for those last 2 off slots. Fill the same role as Peter for helping with horror and can sub for a Guts on "fail by" tests. For the short term you could use Dario El-Amin as a soak and somewhere to use extra turns for cash.
Finn also does well with Lucky Cigarette Case since he's likely to over succeed on two different type of tests.
