Hello Investigators!
I`d like to share our Decklists for our take on the Innsmouth Conspiracy as well as our progress during the campaign. Those campaign notes might include some minor spoilers.
Let`s start with our favourite drifter Ashcan Pete.
Well, this Deck is a pretty simple Dark Horse built. Very low on economic and focused on Skill Cards. I`ve decided to add Calling in Favors because it should work very well with Duke. So you can both dig for another helpful ally and fully restore Duke.
While building a Deck around the Investigators in the Dunwich-Cycle you`ve to choose wisely your limited non-faction-slots. So lets take a look at these.
Magnifying Glass Many Ashcan Pete Decks run this card and in my opinion the reason is obvious. It is very cheap, has the fast trait and it increase your Skill while investigating with Duke. So this was an auto include.
Deny Existence I really like cards that deal with the encounter deck and I assume that those cards are the most powerfull in the game. Deny Existance compete directly with Ward of Protection but in this built I prefere the first one because it is free to play and Pete like to save his last bucks on Lucky!
Vicious Blow Last but not least Vicious Blow. This card fits very well in this Skill heavy built and some extra damage are always welcome.
Before I end my short Deck roundup I`d like to take a note on Moonstone. Honestly it was primaly added as a filler but it turned out that it is pretty strong and worked very good in this built.
Now let`s moveover to the campaign. If you have any questions or remarks for our Decks let us now in the comment section
2021_04_09_The Pit of Despair
We really have to struggle in the first scenario and both got defeated with hardly no change for victory. So we both got a physical trauma. Fortunately we were able to recover some Memories for a total of 3XP which were spent as follows:
- ( - ) 1 A Glimmer of Hope
- ( + ) 1 Miss Doyle
- ( + ) 1 Ancient Covenant
Well with Mary in your Party Ancient Covenant is a no-brainer for sure. While she adding continiously blessing tokens to the chaosbag the covenant can generate some auto-succeeds on skill tests. Unfortunately Favor of the Sun is not released yet because in this case those would be added next.
In my opinion A Glimmer of Hope is the weakest card in the Maindeck. Even if it works perfectly as dog-food it simply takes too long to work when you don`t have a reliable draw-engine. Miss Doyle fits perfectely in this deck. Her little cats can work around the worse stats from Pete and they interact well with Calling in Favors. For just 1 XP this is a good addition.
2021_04_16_The Vanishing of Elina Harper
Our result in "The searching for Elina Harper" was much better than our attempt to escape the drowned cave. Pete had some problems and lost some Clues rather than picking them up but after long investigations we knew who kidnapped Elina and there were only two hideouts left. Unfortunately we picked the wrong place but this couldn t stop us from winning this scenario. We ve cleared 3 VP Locations and thanks to Mary who killed the "Winged One" we`ve earned 4 XP.
- ( - ) 1 A Glimmer of Hope
- ( + ) 1 Unrelenting
- ( + ) Charisma
- ( + ) Elina Harper, Story Asset
Unrelenting is a very nice card. By removing the 3 worst tokens from the chaosbag before the skill check you significant improve the odds of a success especially in comibnation with Ancient Covenant.
Elina Harper were grateful due to her rescue and join our ranks. Well with 5 Allies now in the Deck we choose to add Charisma.
2021_04_23_In Too Deep
This time our couple had a smoother run through Innsmouth than in the previous Scenario. But we also tried to clear the scenario asap rather than dive too deep and getting lost. Nevertheless in the last round of the Scenario where Mary has already escaped Pete were very lucky to not being pulled back by the deep ones. Due to our fast escape we owned only 4XP which we weren`t able to spend yet.
2021_04_30_Devil Reef
The 4th Scenario of the Innsmouth Campaign was very thrilling. After a smooth beginning the tension has risen dramatically. In the middle of the Scenario we struggled against the creature that lurks in the deep. Just after we managed to get rid of it Mary has to face 3 Deep ones at once due to her Overzealous nature. Fortunately together with Pete they were able to escape and dig 2/3 of the artefacts. Therefore we got 6XP for this mission. Together with the 4XP from the previous scenario we were able to spent a bunch of 10 XP.
- ( - ) 1 A Glimmer of Hope
- ( - ) 1 Lucky!
- ( - ) 1 Peter Sylvestre
- ( - ) 2 Rabbit's Foot
- ( + ) 2 Favor of the Sun
- ( + ) 2 Jacob Morrison
- ( + ) 1 Signum Crucis
Well Favor of the Sun paired with Ancient Covenant is just bonkers. It simply allows you to past a test without any skillchecks. I am pretty sure that one of those cards will be nerfed within the next update of the taboo list. Jacob Morrison is also a good card but within an Ashcan Pete Deck it is ridiculous. Thanks to his ability every card in your hand becomes a free to play Lucky!. I think Morrison is a no brainer in every Pete Deck! Finally we decided to add Signum Crucis to add even more Blessing tokens to the bag. The removed cards were reasonable. We cut Peter Sylvestre because we had already a lot of allies in the deck and Jacob also fits in that slot. We removed the Rabbits Foot because with Favor of the Sund and with Jacob we won`t loose many skillchecks. Finally we cut one Lucky because Jacob will do that job better and the last Glimmer of Hope.
Nice idea!
