I just ran Zoey through Return to Dunwich and this is a pretty great deck. Zoey is easy to tailor for solo play because she can grab a Flashlight until she gets Sixth Sense in play as a long-term solution for investigating. She’s great at fighting and I was surprised how often her came up in fights.

Some thoughts about specific cards:

  • Dynamite Blast was a standout card, and Zoey’s innate power (a free $1 every time she engages) was often helpful to make the card affordable. Not every guardian has the economy for it but it saved my bacon against Conglomeration of Spheres (twice!) and stuff like Lupine Thrall.

  • Reliable is a key card, a staple for all future decks that can run it. I might not be building around Well Prepared much more

  • Mr. "Rook" never appeared early enough to help with setup. I’ll consider using him in the future though.

  • I might just make room for Peter Sylvestre because he’s simpler than all the horror soak options I needed

  • this campaign is really stingy with experience, and the Return To content didn’t make much to improve this issue. If I could do it again I’d probably try to squeeze in On the Hunt both for the enemies that grant victory points, but also to see fewer horror-inflicting treacheries

  • also the campaign is really tailored for Seekers; there are not-infrequent locations and treacheries that straight up test outside of investigation. Lucky for me I often had Take the Initiative when these hit

  • "Get over here!" worked great as a one-of to deal with Smite the Wicked and also helped against doom enemies like the Wizard of the Order

For anyone else exploring the game in the true solo format I recommend this deck if you like a challenge! So far she’s much better than Roland Banks but far from power level Ashcan Pete.

Nice deck. We take Zoey multiplayer (3 players) to Dunwich Legacy and she works soooo well in enemy management role AND (unexpectedly) clue gathering. Breach the Door , Sixth Sense and Scene of the Crime are all fantastic cards that accompanied us thorough the entire campaign with excellent results. I have a question: Reliable doesn't have too few targets? The card works only with Item and in the deck i count only 4 items (Machete , Flashlight and Enchanted Blade ). Is a good card, but for just +1 boost icon maybe another card works better?

I aim to put Reliable on the machete to get her stat up to 6 or 7 when fighting. Machete is one of the few cards that is kept in the mulligan, and searched for with Prepared for the Worst.

In a pinch it’s used on the Enchanted Blade for a similar purpose, but you’d rather have it on the one that does 2 damage on every swing.

It’s very important to connect with your attacks in true solo since there’s no one else to save you! Shifting the odds above 80% on fight tests is vital, and this is the best option I’ve found. Its costs are trivial: 1 card, 0 actions, 1 experience, and $1.

The alternates are to run expensive allies (like Beat Cop or Grete Wagner) or combine Well Prepared with experienced assets.
