The well-prepared William Yorick | 11 | 6 | 1 | 1.0 |

I set out to make a Roland deck that kept the feel of a guardian-seeker hybrid, actively seeking out clues. This deck is constructed around three main combos:
-
Both of Roland's signature weaknesses can be mitigated by keeping clues around. Dr. William T. Maleson and Quick Study play on this by allowing Roland to spend clues to avoid bad treacheries and pass tests. Roland's .38 Special and Inquiring Mind also triggers off a clue being present.
-
Pathfinder and Fieldwork keep Roland mobile: engaging enemies or scouting ahead and pick up clues.
- Well Prepared with assets like Hyperawareness and Physical Training provide a repeatable +2 bonus once it is set up.
Although this deck is shown at 19 exp to demonstrate some of the interactions, it is intended to be played from level 0. I used the lower level versions of the cards and had the following replacements:
Add to the deck:
- 2 x Deduction
- 2 x Emergency Cache
- 2 x Evidence!
- 1 x Prepared for the Worst
- 2x lower level Hyperawareness
- 2x lower level Physical Training
What to upgrade next? Stick to the Plan is an amazing card in any deck, and greatly helps here as well. Elder Sign Amulet is always a solid choice with Roland as well.
If playing with Roland's alternative cards: I would take a .45 Automatic and remove a Quick Study.
Take the Initiative is largely a defensive card, intended to help pass bad treachery before his well-prepared is fully out.
