Fend Off

Firstly, this is not intended to be an in depth review of the card. I think the other current review of this card does a pretty good job covering when this card is good and when it isn't.

No, my aim is more specific: i think this card shines when used to counter any enemy weakness. Some investigators have nasty enemy weaknesses that can pack a punch or are extremely resilient:

These are mere examples though. The silver lining is that you can cycle your deck while these remain in play completely harmless. You can (for instance) fend off a Guardian of the Crystallizer from your Trish player and let them carry it around for nefarious purposes. If your Mandy keeps reviving their enemy weaknesses you can pin them on the board so they can do their seeker things even better.

All in all, i think it's a great card to make your deck safer and you shouldn't underestimate it.

I don't think, it's that great with the Watcher. If Patrice draws "Fend Off" earlier than the Watcher, she can't play it. And if she draws the Watcher really early in the deck cycle and "Fend ff" among the last cards, she will have a smaller hand for half a game, which hurts, too.. — Susumu · 382
I think this card doesn't wort well in a Patrice deck, because the weather will be discarded if you successfully evade. So you need the watcher and fend off in your hand and then you take an attack to discard the watcher — Tharzax · 1
I would add, that this is also not a very good option for dealing with Hoods. Because of the forced attack they will attack Rita twice just to be put on ice. For the same amount of XP and twice the resource you can have your bow which you don't need to save up for your weakness. — SgtWinter · 16
This with Katja Eastbank from SK seems really sweet in Ms. Patrice Hathaway. — Quantallar · 8
Monstrous Transformation

Is this card available via deck creation or upgrade? What means base value? Will Maginyfying glasses and Dr. Milan Chritophers +1 book still be added or are they worthless with Monstrous Transformation? I think this would be super cool with Amanda.

It is available only, if you play Rougarou and get a certain resolution as lead investigator. Note, that in that case, you also have to take the "Curse of the Rougarou" weakness into your deck. For the second question: yes they will add. Your base value is just, what is printed on your Investigator card. (Or in cases like this a replacement of it.) — Susumu · 382
Ah ok, Thanks for the clarification! — Unterberg84 · 1
Super cool? More like super boring and game breaking — Nenananas · 271
I'm not sure, if it's super broken in her. I guess, Acidic Ichor is her best way to fight, and that sets the base skill to 6, so the Transformation won't help with it. Therefore, she trades +3 to evade and the occasionally option to punch rats for a pretty rought weakness, she will see early in the game every game, thanks to her seeker card draw. I agree, it's broken on Calvin or Preston, but for her? — Susumu · 382
Becky

One of my favorite Signature cards in the game.

This card is basically A better version of the .45 Automatic, In fact I would say you shouldn't even get the 45. Automatic. Lets Discuss

What this card does better: Cost 2 resources less Gets an additional fist And the reason this is one of the best signature cards, It essentially has infinite ammo.

The only 2 down sides of this card is the ammo capacity and that it uses 2 hand slots, But even the ladder can be solved with Bandolier which goes well with Tommy's ability. Even if you have a better weapon in your hand slot this card also has pretty good resources.

Back to the ammo discussion, You can draw this card at this start of the game and use it all game reliably without worrying about ammo. So, in summary I think this card is one of the best weapons in the game.

Healing Words

This one looks like a decent target for True Magick, since it is not something you want to put down for real ended up having nothing to do until the situation comes. By keeping it in hand you can now also commit like Guts.

On its face, I agree, but I don't think it's truly worth three experience to put in your deck in the first place. — DjMiniboss · 44
I agree with DjMiniboss. On top of, what he says: if you can take True Magick, it will always be 3 XP. You will want other spells more than this for your AR upgrades, possibly other cards more for DtRH. And leaving the level 0 card until scenario 6 or 7 in your deck is also no viable option. — Susumu · 382
Ice Pick

I think the real combo would be to pair this along with Well-Maintained. Just infinite recursion for 1 resource, and everything is fast, right? Investigators who can take this: Joe Diamond William Yorick and of course... Lola Hayes

Correction: No infinite recursion at all, as Well-Maintained doesn't return itself to your hand

joster · 96
This is not going to work unfortunately, Well-maintained only returns the attached item and every "other" attachment, meaning well-maintained itself will still be discarded — niklas1meyer · 1
As soon as I wrote the review I realised that Well-Maintained doesn't return to your hand... — joster · 96
Turning Well Maintained into a vicious blow/deducation still a neat use here. — Zerogrim · 295
So this has me thinking of something that I don’t know if anyone else has tried. What if I paired the level 3 ice pick with the level 3 old keyring to reduce difficulty by 2 for the shroud on a 2 shroud location? The +1 bonus from ice pick doesn’t get to factor in to the success, but I could still discard it to pick up 3 clues in one action, yes? It’s not super efficient but I think just splashing one of these in a deck with 2 other weapons and 2 old key rings would give some flexibility if you can’t draw the cards you would really like to. I feel like the options are pretty good for only one deck slot. — Staticalchemist · 1
